This week has been a crazy week! Filled with ups and downs and a couple of what the fucks. So where do I begin? I guess Tuesday is best.
Tuesday:
Woke up expecting to have an exciting new day at work. Now, I know going into a new job is always a little different at first, but it was pretty interesting. Let's start with the security. It is way more intense than my old building. You are required to wear a security badge around the office to get in and out of units and the building. Plus guards and cameras are everywhere. On some level its nice to feel safe, but then you question if going to the bathroom will be a problem.
Now that we're on topic of bathrooms, here's a plus! They have hands-free toilets and sinks! Awesome! Not just for the clean factor, but for the usage of water.
As for cleanliness of the building, another plus! No one has a personal garbage can, so you learn quickly to reduce your trash that you bring to work with you, if you don't want to be getting up constantly to the garbage/recycling location.
About the location of my new building, it's 2 km less of a drive. And with the price of gas, that's a plus for saving a few pennies.
Which brings me to the money part of things, 71 cents more pay. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it does add up.
As for the people I work with, they are different. Of course they are, everyone is different. I have some friends there too, so that's nice. Knowing me and my personality, I will fit in and love everyone (even the ones "I'm supposed to stay away from").
The last part of work, the actual job. Talk about monotonous. I'm up for a challenge or even a boring job, but this was a little much. An ipod was required the next day to keep my sanity. It's also a slight slap in the face getting paid more in this position, compared to my old one. I guess the pay difference is for the responsibility of the products I am dealing with.
So far I am looking forward to my contract ending to go back to my old job.
As for Tuesday evening. First I had to go pick up my car from the shop. I knew it was going to be costing a few hundred dollars, because I needed to do some classic maintenance. I really should have been there 3,000 km ago, but I put it off for financial reasons. And just as well! $600 later...THIS did not help my attitude from my first day of work either. Ugh. I guess the positive side of this was that it was going to cost more, but because things are still under warranty it was less.
Next off! A going away party for a friend. It was nice getting to see people, but I was staying in town and the spare room was already occupied, so that means I got the couch. Also, the party didn't die down until after 11:00...and I like going to bed early throughout the week. Finally, when everyone went to their rooms, it was still a struggle seeing city lights, hearing city traffic, TV's in bedrooms, talking, etc...So it wasn't until 1:00 that I finally drifted off. I kept waking up in the night/early morning because other people were getting up as well. Which made for a tired Wednesday.
Wednesday:
Tired, but better day. I had my ipod loaded up and listened to favourite tunes all day. Plus, I got to go home and have a good sleep in my own bed.
Thursday:
A little bit better day at work. I have hope that I can do this job for a while. I am really looking forward to next week, when I get to meet my Supervisor (she is on holidays this week).
After work, I had to deliver papers...did I mention that there was a wind warning? 90km winds! WTF! I could barely do the papers. So intense. I had to finish them up quickly, because I was meeting with other friends that evening to do suit fittings for a wedding I am in these summer.
I don't like spending money right now, because I don't have it. A couple more dollars down on shirts and ties. I really like that we are buying suits and what have you, rather then renting though. I always find renting the tuxs/suits are a sham. They aren't that nice, they aren't that comfortable, and you have to find the time within a couple of days of the wedding to return everything. If you buy, its a tailor fit, and you get to keep everything.
After the fittings, we all went back to their place. I made us a nacho dinner, had a couple of beers, and then went to bed. These friends are early birds as well, so that was good.
Friday:
Went to work, it was okay.
After work, delivered my last round of papers. I am no longer PAPERBOY. I decided to give up the route, because the difference in pay will cover that, plus a little extra. Besides, I'm sure this summer, some kids will be looking for a paper route in their neighbourhood.
Got home and AC came over for a visit. I made us the best burgers ever. Seriously. They were epic. I wanted to test them out, because I want to make them for my Mother's day dinner I am hosting out here. I will take some pictures and try to do a blog post about them next Monday.
Just as AC was leaving, NORM got home. He was finally spending the night and he brought his kitty with him. Her name is Lucy and she is adorable. I got to bed a little late last night and here is another WTF moment. Around 3:30 this morning lights were going on and off, doors were opening and closing (including mine). I think NORM is a sleepwalker. We're new to each other, so I am not going to bring it up quite yet. For all I know, maybe he was awkwardly looking for his cat or got disoriented. I will test the waters to see if it happens again. It was slightly freaky seeing someone open your door, walk in, an walk out. Hmmm...come to think of it...isn't 3:30 the devil's hour? Shit.
Today:
Good day.
Up early.
Pot of coffee brewing.
Gorgeous weather.
Finally writing on the blog.
And my "Little" and I are going to Chuckie Cheese later this afternoon.
This week has been interesting to say the least, but here's the thing...It's funny that it's not really any more different in the randomness of any other week. I love my funny life! Hope everyone has had a great week! Any weekend plans?
Be Well!
