Meet Joe Black (4.5/5)
Starring: Anthony Hopkins & Brad Pitt
"A media mogul acts as a guide to Death, who takes the form of a young man to learn about life on Earth and in the process, fall in love with his guide's daughter."
I haven't watched this movie since it first came out. I don't know where I came up with the idea that Joe Black was an alien. Maybe I didn't understand death at the age of 13...Oh well, watching it now was fantastic. I teared up, I laughed, I enjoyed. The score is beautiful in it as well.
Get Low (5/5)
Starring: Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Bill Murray, & Lucas Black.
"A movie spun out of equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about the mysterious, 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party... while he was still alive."
I don't know if this movie would be considered a 'Dramedy', but it should be. I don't want to say anything about it, other then check it out! It was an excellent flick.
Husk (4.5/5)
Starring: Devon Graye, Wes Chatham, CJ Thomason, & Tammin Sursok.
"A group of friends stranded near a desolate cornfield find shelter in an old farmhouse, though they soon discover the dwelling is the center of a supernatural ritual."
This movie reminds me of that classic cheesy scary movie when you were growing up. Where the acting isn't the greatest, and its fairly predictable, but it still gets you with those scenes. I don't think I have ever screamed in a movie...this movie has taken that honour away from me.
Country Strong (4/5)
Starring: Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund, & Leighton Meester.
I'm not giving a description for this, because when I saw the preview I had no idea what it was about, other then country singers singing away with some sort of relations happening between each other. Check this movie out.
Billy Madison (3/5)
Starring: Adam Sandler.
"In order to inherit his fed up father's hotel empire, an immature and lazy man must repeat grades 1-12 all over again."
If this was the first time I saw this movie, I would have ranked it lower. When I was a kid, I loved this movie, but watching it for the first time in a long time...not so much. I was disgusted and disappointed with most of it. It still had some funny parts and cameos, but not my cup of tea anymore. Then I got to thinking that I watched quite a bit of movies that were pretty inappropriate for me to be watching.
The Sure Thing (5/5)
Starring: John Cusack & Daphne Zuniga.
"A college student plans a cross-country trip to get laid, but ends up traveling with a young woman. They hate each other, so naturally..."
Once again, Tracy, you have amazed me. Thank you for introducing me to what will now become a classic for me! Every time I watch it, I know I will love a new line or scene. Love my 80's genre of movies, love any Cusack, and love Daphne Zuniga. Bring on the cheese.
Penelope (5/5)
Starring: Christina Ricci & James McAvoy.
"A modern romantic tale about a young aristocratic heiress born under a curse that can only be broken when she finds true love with 'one who will love her faithfully'."
I can't believe I haven't seen this movie sooner. Love fairy tales, but that's because I am a hopeless romantic. All the actors were great. Charming movie.
