I am not a religious guy, but I did go to a catholic high school. I made a lot of friends and learned a lot of different stories; one being lent. Basically the jist of lent is giving up something from Ash Wednesday until Easter, but apparently you're allowed to "cheat" on Sundays because every Sunday during lent is a "mini-easter". Lame. There can't be cheat days.
I tried it in high school; I gave up Diet Coke completely, no cheating. I was obsessed with Diet Coke and on my last day I was pumped to have my first sip...it tasted disgusting. At that point, I decided lent was pure evil. Since then, I have been able to enjoy a nice tall glass of Diet Coke. My views have changed towards lent.
I've decided to give it a go again this year. I think it is a good thing for me to do. I like personal goals, because it means personal growth. But what to give up? At first I was thinking about trying to give up loving thyself...you know...masturbation...but come on...thats just ridiculous!
I've decided to give up booze (I feel like Im going to rehab or something!), but with two exceptions:
1. I have a half bottle of pinot grigio in the fridge that I want to finish before it goes bad.
2. I'm allowed to drink on St. Patrick's Day (It's my favourite holiday).
Are you going to give anything up for lent?
Here we go...start counting.....3...2...1...GO!
i'm giving up getting high but i think im going to give myself to cheat days i really just wanted to stop it from being an everyday thing and i think im doing a good job of accomplishing that
