As everyone knows, I am on a strict budget. Which can be pretty difficult to manage. I'm still looking for another roommate, or some other form of income. The weather was pretty rainy and gloomy today, so needless to say, so was my mood.
Luckily, great friends can really change that around. My friend Millie bought me fries and a frosty from Wendy's and my friend SG took me out for Toms Nachos (my fave). I love my friends! They know I ove their company AND food! Thanks for the turn around today.
Due to the weather AND me staying up late the night before to watch the Oscars, I am completely exhausted and must go to bed now. So goodnight sweet world. Be well.

Songs for the week:
1. Enrique Iglesias feat. Ludacris - Tonight...
So its inappropriate, but I love it.

3. Matt Andersen - One Size Never Fits
I couldn't help but give another one, just so you can see!! Amazing! And funny! Check it!
4. Rare Earth - I Just Want to Celebrate
5. The Damnwells - Assholes
There are my choices for this week.
Take what you will! Enjoy my taste or bash it with the best of them!

flashbacks.
I've been pondering all week on my video blog. I really couldn't think of something that I wanted to talk about via video. After cleaning my computer up, deleting old files, burning DVDs of old photos, etc...I came across one file in particular that I haven't heard in about seven years! So I leave you with that! Enjoy!
Yep...embarrassing.
Have any evidence of embarrassing memories??

whoever smelled it...
Smells. I love'm. Even the gross ones...to a degree. I am fascinated by our senses. I could think about them for hours. Seriously, think about them sometime. They are amazing. I love the connections that our senses can make.
To this day when I smell moth balls, I think of my Gram. No, she didn't smell like moth balls, but when I helped her pack up her trailer at the end of every summer, we put moth balls in all the drawers to prevent little critters from getting in. So moth balls to me remind me of my Gram and the awesome summer we had.
I also like other odd smells too, like manure, gasoline, and skunks. Weird? haha
I am semi-normal too though. I also like "good" smells; laundry on the line, fresh rain, changing of seasons, and many more.
What's your favourite smell? Have any that trigger memories?

my hand is raised.
Don't get me wrong, I love winter, but I am definitely ready for spring. On my drive in this morning, I heard that it is calling for another foot of snow tomorrow. Oy!

my pledge.
So for anyone out there that is a physician, you will more then likely know exactly what I am talking about. But, if you're just a regular Joe like myself, then let me explain. When doctors decide to become doctors, they have to take an oath. I "took" the oath and re-worded back in high school. I try to live my life this way, as bet as possible:
I pledge to dedicate my life to the service of bettering humanity.
I will give to my teachers the respect and gratitude that is their due.
I will practice my actions with conscience and dignity.
I will give to my teachers the respect and gratitude that is their due.
I will practice my actions with conscience and dignity.
I will always try to have faith in humanity.
I will respect the secrets that are confided in me even after death.
I will honour humanity.
I will respect the secrets that are confided in me even after death.
I will honour humanity.
Humanity will be my family.
I will not permit the discrimination of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, race, political affiliation, nationality, sexual orientation, social standing or any other factor within humanity.
I will maintain the utmost respect for human life.
I will not use my knowledge to violate human rights, even under threat.
I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honour.
Now I am only human, so of course I slip up from time to time. I admit when I am wrong, pay the consequences, learn from my mistakes, and move forward.

reviews-day tuesday.
Reviews this week...
...Are really minimal! Apparently I have been busy! Sorry guys! I will try to watch some movies this week to get caught up. Though, I have to say, I've also been watching seasons of shows right now. Once I finish a series, I will post about it.
Life As We Know It (4/5)
Starring: Katherine Heigl & Josh Duhamel.
Cute movie. Definitely more on the drama side than comedy. I liked it. I really enjoyed the timeframes on the bottom of the screen. I tend to hate the "airport" scene in movies, but this one wasn't completely awful.
Land of the Lost (3/5)
Starring: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride.
Definitely a movie with some cheesy quotable lines. Its sad that the only reason I wanted to see this was because of Jorma Taccone.

family day.
Today is a great day! Today is Family Day.
This is a pretty recent holiday in Ontario. I believe it was acknowledged in 2008. My maternal side of family is fantastic. We love each other dearly and all get together AT LEAST once a month. My Aunt is like a second Mom and my older cousins are all like sisters.
In February we used to get together for my Grandmothers birthday, but after she passed away, I was a little worried that we might miss a chance to spend time together for that month. I secretly hoped that some of my cousins would get pregnant in May. I think the universe decided to help us out and give us Family Day. Nothing more fitting than celebrating a day to be with each other, reliving old memories and talking about the future.
PLUS...our family loves food. We are complete foodies. Who doesn't love getting together and eating with family. They are the least likely to judge when you dive into your third helping. In fact, half the time they encourage it so there wont be leftovers.
Today's menu is consisting of BBQ items. I am completely looking forward to my Aunt's potato salad. She honestly makes the best. I'm not just saying that either. She passed the recipe onto me, because no one else in the family has been able to replicate it properly. Its all about portions and time put into it. There will be plenty of other goodies as well! I am going to make/bring chips & "the dip" (which is only a Club House package, but seems to be the best dip in the world that my Grandmother used to make at every event), some of my delicious Bruschetta, and some goat cheese with delicious crackers that my friend Tracy brought back form New York for me. I don't really want to share them, because they are that good. But I feel inclined to introduce them to the rest of the world.
I hope you all have an amazing day today, even if you don't celebrate this "holiday" where you are, call a family member or go through old photos and reminisce.
Happy Family Day! Love you all!

check it.
It's been a while since I've talked about any books that I've read recently. So I figured its about time, unfortunately I only have two books to report on. Life has been busy and I hate that that is an excuse for not reading. Today, I am giving myself an hour to read this morning, before I meet with my "Little" and my cousins. My new book I am reading is much better (so far) than the last two I read! haha
My Side of the Mountain -- Jean Craighead George
So my roommate has been wanting me to read this book for about 3 years now. I just kept putting it enough until I was in the mood. As you can tell from the front (Yes, I judge a book by it's cover), it looks childish, and it is. Its the story of a teenage boy running away to live in the woods. It feels unrealistic, but that is also the point of the book, which is slightly inspiring. The main reason my roommate thought I would love it, is when I lived in the forest for the summer, I gave all the animals names, like the boy does in the book. If you have any pre-teen/teenagers out there, they'd probably love this book! Who knows, maybe you would too!
(Also, this is a trilogy! I should probably read the other two!)
Good Evening, Central Laundromat -- Jason Heroux
This one was recommended by my Mom. She knows how much I love local things, and I guess books are no exceptions. This is from a local writer, who actually works in the same office as I do!
First off, if I were passing by this book, I would not pick it up, AT ALL. Look at that cover! It looks like an instruction manual, more then a cover for a book. As for the story, it was okay. Not completely my cup of tea. It had a very twilight zone feel to it. And lastly, the conversations in the book were a bit of a struggle. I like the flow of conversations in a book, rather then "he said", "she said", "he said", "she said" constantly throughout.
Anyways, that's all I have to report on right now. Have any suggestions for me to add to my pile of books to read?

part-time job.
I officially have another job. Last night, I started my first day of being a....wait for it....Paperboy! Is it wrong that when I say that I feel the need to play a little theme song in my head and picture myself in tights and a cape? Maybe, but whatever. I should probably just go ahead and make the costume.
Anyways, first night of delivering papers, was a fail. The paper I deliver for delivered me the wrong papers and not enough of them. Talk about a pain in the neck...literally. Those canvas sacks they give you, aren't that pleasant. I think I am going to look around for an old wagon or crazy lady laundry cart. On a positive note, I learned half of my route last night. They gave me about six pages of houses that I am to deliver to. I'm going to suggest printing a list of houses NOT to deliver to, which would probably only be one page at most.
I delivered the correct papers on my lunch today and will finish my route after I finish my actual job tonight. Then I will hit up the grocery store to do my weekly grocery run! Now that I have this job, I have the insider scoop for sales, getting the flyers a day earlier than the rest of the world.
The job itself doesn't pay the greatest, but I am basically getting paid to listen to my iPod and exercise for two nights a week. In my opinion, that's a pretty sweet job! Here's to my new part-time job as....
PAPERBOY!
P.S. Anyone else hear that capes are in this year? Awesome!

sandwiches.
I love food. I love to cook food. I love playing with food. One of my favourite foods...sandwiches.
Grilled cheese, egg salad, panini, peanut butter and jelly, you name it! Honestly, pretty much anything between two slices of bread. I am serious. I have had so many random sandwiches that I am sure a lot of people would be disgusted or disturbed by them.
Favourite example: Cheez-whiz and chip sandwich. The chip can vary but I enjoy a dill pickle or salt and vinegar chip. The crunch with the cheese is fantastic.
Random example: Cake sandwich. My little cousins know how much I love sandwiches, so they dared me to have a piece of cake between two slices of bread. Surprisingly enough, it was pretty good! I think it was the freshness of the bread that caused the sandwich to taste light, moist, and flavourful.

reviews-day tuesday.
Reviews for the week:
Starring: John Candy.
This is a go to favourite for me on a sick day. I love John Candy. The scene with Macaulay Culkin asking the questions if amazing!
Starring: Bruce Willis & Tracy Morgan.
Very stupid movie, but so funny! They have great chemistry. Plus a lot of funny secondary characters.
Starring: Amy Adams & Matthew Goode.
Cheesey romantic comedy, but pretty adorable. Plus I love Amy Adams and Matthew Goode.
So I Married An Axe Murderer (4/5)
Starring: Mike Meyers & Nancy Travis.
Hysterical! Beat poetry.
"Look at the size of that boy's head. It's like an orange on a toothpick."
Pineapple Express (4/5)
Starring: Seth Rogen & James Franco.
If you're looking for that next big stoner film, this is it!
Starring: Jason London.
One of Zach Galifianakis' first big roles! Completely stupid movie, but ridiculously funny!
The Man with Two Brains (4.5/5)
Starring: Steve Martin & Kathleen Turner.
A very serious movie about brain transplantation....HA!
Sunshine Cleaning (5/5)
Starring: Amy Adams & Emily Blunt.
Not your average dark comedy. Great flick. Great Ending.

valentine's day.
Happy Valentine's Day to one and all!
I don't have a Valentine, but I am completely happy anyways! I might not be in love, but I am surrounded by it. Tonight, I am getting together with a couple of girlfriends for a lovely dinner! I know, its not in my budget, but we all need a treat from time to time. Besides, look at some of the meals I have made this past week! Each meal I made cost less than $10 and each meal provided leftovers for lunch or other meals.
Mixed Veggies, Mashed Potatoes, and Local Turkey!
Nachos with Homemade Guacamole.
The Guac looks a little sketchy in this photo, but it was fantastic!
Potato Pancakes. I would like to thank the left over mashed potatoes for this meal.
Thank you.
Spaghetti Squash with a Homemade Tomato Sauce.
First time ever trying spaghetti squash and I believe this will be a staple in my kitchen.
Cooks up beautifully and knowing that I can serve a meal for under $5 is awesome!
Delicious homemade Bruschetta!
P.S. I love you...AND food.

the day before valentine's day.
I decided to give my song selections this week a little Valentine's feel to them:
1. Jimmy Durante - I'll Be Seeing You
Jimmy Durante makes me think of Frosty.
2. Plain White T's - 1, 2, 3, 4
3. Rachael Yamagata - Be Be Your Love
4. Lion King Soundtrack - Can You Feel The Love Tonight
Love the Timon & Pumbaa part!
5. The Pogues - Love You Til The End
6. Gavin Degraw - I'm in Love With a Girl
7. Discovery Channel - I Love The Whole World
So it might not necessarily be the right kind of love song, but I still think it's a good message for love.
8. The Beatles - All You Need Is Love
The Beatles knew what they were talking about.
There are my choices for this week.
Take what you will! Enjoy my taste or bash it with the best of them!

home sweet home.
So my friend Johnny lives in BC and hasn't gotten a chance to see my house yet. He asked me to post some pictures and I have taken my sweet ass time to do that. Anyways, I thought it might be fun to make a video for him, but when I went to send it to him, the video was too large. I decided I would make it my vlog for this week so my other friends could check out the house as well! Plus, it gives me a chance to learn more about iMovie.

tim robbins.
So do you have a problem with Tim Robbins? I don't, or at least I didn't. Wednesday night I went to bed happy, Thursday morning I woke up horrified. Apparently, I had a nightmare involving Mr.Robbins.
Pictures this!
I am wandering around in a jungle-like setting where I stumble across a strange liquid in a tube. How it held the liquid, I don't know. Both ends of the tube were open-ended. I apparently thought this was something of importance, so I was going to take it to my Mom (Bonnie Hunt) and my Dad (George Rose - from Pirates of Penzance) to show them my discovery.
Upon reaching them, the mad scientist Tim Robbins had already gotten to Mom & Dad. My parents told me to run, but I held up the tube to present it. Tim went mental when he saw what I had found. He came after me. I tried fighting (but I'm not much of a fighter). Every time I hit him or attempted to push him, nothing happened. He just laughed and punched me. I asked him if it would be okay to kick, because I am like Chuck Norris with my legs, but he said it wasn't fair. So I stopped kicking and continued to punch.
Every once in a while when I started to get to tired, I would throw a couple of kicks to send him flying a few feet back, but then reverted back to my "attempt-to-punch" mode. The dream pretty much consisted of Tim Robbins beating me up. After 8 hours of this, I woke up.
Weird no?

name calling.
So the other night, I was enjoying a glass of red wine while watching Cougar Town.
If you haven't seen it, get on that, because it's hilarious!
In the show, "Jules" calls her big wine glass by name (Big Joe & Big Carl).
I decided to go into my kitchen, take out my largest wine glasses, and give them names:

budget.
As I've said before, I am currently on a strict budget.
Luckily, I have a great mixture in my Heinz 57 heritage; so I embraced my French culture the other night.
Wine & Bread! It totally makes a meal. Holla!
Have any budget meals/ideas for me to use?
