absence makes the heart grow stronger?

It does right? I think it's true...but lame! You know what also makes your heart grow stronger, spending more time with the ones you love. And unfortunately, I have been neglecting you all! Life is busy, but I should always makes time for my blog. It's been over a month since my last post and even then, I was doing poorly. Starting today, I am going to try to get back into the swing of things! Which is silly, because after tonight, my schedule is completely crazy and hectic! Oh well, Im ridiculously organized, so I will just have to make the time!

Miss and love you all!!

happy thanksgiving.

It's Thanksgiving here in Canada and I have plenty to be thankful for; my family, friends, a job, a roof over my head, someone special in my life, food, water, and many more things that I could list on for days. Instead of boring you with that, I decided to share a couple of photos from this past weekend:

The apple pies that I made for my family dinner on Sunday.
Apple Pie #1

Apple Pie #2

The centerpieces that my cousin Kathy and I attempted to create for our dinner on Sunday
Centerpiece #1

Centerpiece #2

The flowers that Joshua bought me on Saturday night.
We werent going to get to spend Thanksgiving together, so this was quite sweet.

And because I'm funny, I like to celebrate any holiday to it's fullest, here is the dinner I made for myself tonight. Just Jason. Lone Wolf Thanksgiving!

So to the rest of you out there, Happy Thanksgiving!
Please be thankful for the many joys in your life!
Especially the ones that are taken for granted.

nipples.

are weird.

That's pretty much it.

Also…why are female nipples sexualized/blurred out and males aren’t?

My challenge for you is to take the time and fully stare at a nipple. Yours, someone else's, I don't really care, just take about 5 minutes of your day and fully get in there.

The varieties!

Anyways! Happy nippling!

Dear Gram.

Yesterday was the 4 year anniversary of my Grandmas death. I always try to look a the positive, so I wasn't too upset, but I couldn't help but get a little emotional.

I was thinking about my home and how much she would have loved it. I even thought about how great it would have been, because she probably would have asked to be my room mate when I was looking! Talk about an amazing time!

Then I started to think about how she was always wanting the best for me and couldn't wait for me to find someone who would make me so happy. Now that I have Joshua, it makes me disappointed he wasn't around sooner. Is it weird that I want to take him to the grave site to introduce them to each other? I don't think so, but I'm weird like that.

Luckily, she lives on in my memories and through all the kind words of others. Those who know how much she meant to me always send me kind words that day, so it means a lot to me as well.

On a side/related note. I went to her grave yesterday to clean it up a bit and leave a penny for her thoughts, and I found another penny had already been placed there. Now I'm on a mission to see which family member or random friend does the same as me! I love it! Does anyone else leave a penny in the cemetery when you got to visit a loved one? I'm intrigued, is this a normal thing? Details!

rain, rain...

...stay all day, fill my cisterns all the way!

My cisterns are getting quite low! For the past week, the weather men have been calling for rain and I haven't seen a drop. This morning around 5am, I finally saw rain...for about 20 minutes. Apparently, its supposed to come back this afternoon!

Here's hopin'

thoughts on a sunday.

I should start by sending my love to everyone around the globe today. My thoughts and prayers go out to all.

Next on my list, is to wish my beautiful young cousin a Happy Birthday, she is finally a teenager! Welcome to the teenage life sweetheart!

Which then brings me to sending my condolences to my cousins whose daughter turned thirteen today, best of luck with that eh!

Not that I like the attention, but if anyone would like to wish me a happy tri-monthiversary for Joshua and I, I'll take it! haha

And that's that for my things to get off my chest.

So I leave you with my songs for the week which I've decided to dedicate to Coldplay, since their new single "Paradise" will be aired sometime after midnight tonight here in Canada.

another year older.

Yet another year of my life comes to an end and a new one begins!

On Tuesday, I turned the ripe young age of 26. I'm not one to enjoy birthdays, unless they are for others. I do not like being the center of attention, I don't like accepting gifts, and I'm way too emotional to have so many people care about me.

I can honestly say, this was the first birthday in a really like time that I enjoyed so much that at the end of the day, I was sad to see it come to an end.

There wasn't even anything too special about it, but it was completely fantastic.

The boyfriend, (yes, that's right, we're are officially boyfriend/boyfriend status) came over the night before, because he wanted to be there the morning of my birthday to be one of the first to wish me a special day and to give me amazing thoughtful gifts.

That day I cleaned my house and my yard, got a couple of errands done, had a special delivery, and cooked a lovely dinner for my famjamily. The family was slightly frustrated that I cooked and cleaned for my birthday, but quickly realized how happy it makes me feel, so they embraced it.

I had so many phone calls, texts, facebook messages, etc... I am slightly anal and wrote every single person a private message back thanking them for the thoughtful messages and checked in on their lives. So not only did I have a great birthday, I had a great time catching up with old friends.

Anyways, enough about that, here are some pictures from the day:

The boyfriend made me breakfast.

Flowers from the boy.

Beatles Print from the boy.

Special Delivery from Amazon. Love them! I pre-ordered this book and was thrilled to get it one I was home.

My cousin Jessica. Teaching her how to be country.

My cousin Matt. Teaching him tree-climbing techniques.

Anyways, thanks to everyone in my life who has made this past year happen. Here's to a great 26th year.

silly chipmunk.

My lovely friend Tracy gave me All Star strawberry plants last year! They are amazing and are constantly giving strawberries! HOWEVER, this year, someone has moved in around my steps....

My lovely little strawberry.

The chipmunks residence.

He comes out just when the berries are about ready to pick, and BAM! Takes them, eats them, and leaves the evidence right infront of my door! What a little sneak!
Any suggestions to keep the critters out of my plants?

summer cleaning.

Just over a week ago, I set up a meeting with my banking advisor to discuss my finances and debt. I was hoping to get all my loans/credits/debts/etc consolidated to one bill and to have a couple extra dollars for emergencies that come up around the house.

Today, I got the unfortunate news that this will not be happening.

My advisor kept reassuring me that I have "good debt" and my credit is "great", but unfortunately at this time they cannot offer me a loan or increase any of my limits. I need to focus on bringing my current debt down....I thought that's what I have been doing already??

I do not want to get a second job AGAIN, though I'm sure the paper route would gladly offer PAPER BOY back his heroic role, but my life is busy and to add another duty may be a little much.

So after having a little pity party, I've decided to follow the footsteps of my Mother when she was struggling with us kids. I'm going to go around my house, gather all the things that I don't need and sell them.

It's about time too! I haven't done a good spring cleaning in a long while. I kept saving things for "when I had a home and a place for it"...Well, I've owned the house over a year and if it doesn't have a spot and hasn't been used, it's time to go.

Here's to the good, that comes from the bad!

reviews-day tuesday.

The Change-Up (4/5)
Starring: Jason Bateman & Ryan Reynolds.
I haven't been to the theatre in a while and I have to say I'm getting larger or the seats are getting smaller! Sheesh! However, I can't let that effect my judgement on this movie. I'm a sucker for any movie that wants to be like 'Freaky Friday'. Take that classic film and then completely crude it up with two fantastic comedians and you have this movie! Well done boys!

Morning Glory (5/5)
Starring: Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, & Diane Keaton.
I didn't know too much about this movie, so I wasn't expecting much. Boy am I glad that I caught this flick. Its a story about a struggling producer trying to fix a shady morning talk show. I don't even know how to talk it up enough to get you to go see it, but watch it! You won't regret it.

Just Go With It (3/5)
Starring: Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston.
Sandler plays a plastic surgeon who is basically a womanizer. He asks his assistant (Aniston) to act like his soon to be divorced wife in order to cover up a lie he told his new girlfriend. It was a cute romantic comedy and there were a lot of aspects that I liked, but I think I'm over Adam Sandler...for now. I'm sure he will hook me back in eventually. Sandler and Aniston had great chemistry on set, making Sandler's mediocre acting work.

Hall Pass (4/5)
Starring: Owen Wilson & Jason Sudeikis.
Owen Wilson & Jason Sudeikis' characters are given the opportunity to have a week off of marriage, aka a Hall Pass. During the week, crazy shenanigans start to happen, especially by the last night of their week off. It definitely had me laughing multiple times and even had a couple of unexpected "Oh my" moments.

Paper Man (?/5)
Starring: Jeff Daniels, Lisa Kudrow, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, & Keiran Culkin.
Take the movie Drop Dead Fred and make it awkward...this could be that movie. I don't know how I feel about this movie. I will definitely watch it again. I think I really liked it, but there were a few parts I was put off on. Great cast and great acting. Please watch this and let me know what you think.

Megamind (4/5)
Starring: Will Ferrell & Tina Fey.
Megamind is an evil genius who eventually defeats the hero of Metro City. However, after some time he realizes life can be pretty boring without a hero to fight. This movie was pretty cute. I love superhero flicks and I liked how much it parodied Superman.

somber sunday.

Yesterday I went on an awesome kayaking adventure with six friends in the bay of Lake Ontario. We had a wonderful day trip and I had my first unintentional flip in my kayak. What an experience! We shared lots of laughs and plenty of sore muscles. Today, I am just taking it easy around the house, catching up on cleaning and movies. It's pretty dreary out there, so its easy to get lost in my bed multiple times today. In the meantime, here are some songs for you to take a listen to:

1. Karmin - Super Bass (Cover)
I love me some Karmin. I may try to contact them to see about getting them to do a song for the Christmas album.

laughter.

is awesome.

I am always laughing. Well, I guess not always. I know there are times to be serious, I get that, but more times then most, need to have humour or enjoyment in them.

Today has been a busy day at work and I was slightly sad when a couple of the staff came up to me and asked if everything was okay, because they didn't hear me laugh. They told me that even when they are having a shitty day, just hearing my boisterous Santa laugh brightens their day.

Here's to you co-workers and the rest of the world! I'll try to be a little less busy tomorrow and bring a couple more humourous antics to tomorrows conversations.

Plus, I promise to wear my smile the rest of the afternoon.

Take Care!

slip n' slide.

I was originally going to write a blog post about how much I want to slide down a really long bannister, because I havent since I was a kid. However, when I wrote the title, I had an even bigger urge to use a slip n' slide instead! After much research, I found a cheap one on sale at Walmart for $20....Might have to make a quick venture after work. Talk about strange urges.

Do you get any weird ones from time to time?

sore sunday.

Yesterday I helped my friends daughter move from Ottawa to Kingston....Holy Balls was it hot outside!! The only thing that kept me going, was knowing I was going to Costco in Hull to get cheap beer! Thank goodness for that! Today was a run around errand/chore day, and I pretty much got everything accomplished! Just waiting on my last batch of cookies to come out of the oven and I will be heading to bed shortly after that! Anyways, here are my song choices this week.

I'm a bully.

And I feel completely guilty about it.
I try not to kill any bug in my home. I've saved many from murderous occasions from roommates.
Just ask my old roomie Amanda. She was about to squish a potato bug and I rescued him by placing him in my mouth....Yep, I'm weird AND gross.

However, this year, my home has been insanely infested with Ants.
I started off innocently enough, by looking up natural methods of deterring them away from inside my home. I tried wiping counters constantly, making sure no food products were left out, placed around vinegar trays, sage leaves, chalk lines, but on Saturday morning...
I had enough.

I became a murderer. I lost my shit and started squishing away. I was practically in tears doing so, but I just couldn't handle it anymore. My friend Karen came over Monday night and gave me some bug stuff to spray around the perimeter of my house and it seems to be working.

I really hope they've left me alone. I even hope that there were some survivors who made it out.

I love everything, big and small, but please Ants, stop infesting my Kitchen.

not cool ants, not cool.

we're having a heat wave...

...a tropical heat wave....

It has been insanely hot. And even on a day like today, with a humidex of 46 degrees, I can't help but smile and think of Grumpy Old Men...
"Morning Dickhead!"
Classic.
Man, I love that movie.

silent sunday.

Well, the gong show was a success! Everyone had a great time, though we had a few slightly awkward moments! The one game was a huge success and everyone loved the jello shooters (of course!). I behaved, so I was feeling great this morning! Got up nice and early and cleaned my cousins house so she didn't have to deal with all of it by herself. Today, I've been enjoying my day off and have watched food network continuously! I figured I should take a little break and post some songs, since I feel like it's been a while!

1. Thompson Square - Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?
Powered by mp3skull.com

2. A Goofy Movie Soundtrack - Eye to Eye
I've watched the movie recently, so I've had the soundtrack on my ipod.
Powered by mp3skull.com

3. Basement Jaxx - Stay Close
Josh said this song makes him think of me....Sexy much?
Powered by mp3skull.com

4. Weird Al Yancovic - Polka Face
I love Weird Al, especially his medleys
Powered by mp3skull.com

5. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
This song is pretty catchy, but the video is AMAZING! Love cameos. Hanson and Kenny G anyone?

gong show.

Tonight has been a night of prep work. Especially cleaning of the house! My favourite is that my laundry has been completed and already hung on the line! YES! I've made Sangria, shots, CDs, games, spiked watermelon, and a bunch of other random treats for tomorrow evening. Which by the way, is for my cousins 33rd birthday party. For the past few years we have had the craziest parties for him and each year it seems to get funnier and funnier. I'm helping my cousin get it organized and help make it run smoothly.

Hopefully, I won't be too under the weather, because my other cousin and I might go for a little kayak tour on Sunday. However, if we are ill, it might just be yakking instead. I'm also hoping for a decent mood on Sunday, because I believe Josh and I might get together for a movie Sunday night. Here's hoping to a fairly sober evening, but knowing my track record.......Wish me luck! haha

SLACKER.

I've been bad blogger world! At least I am sticking with the original goal of once a week, but I really enjoyed daily updates. So as per usual, let me try to catch you up with my life.

The weekend was a lovely success. Erica came out and I gave her a lovely vacation away from home. We even had time for a kayaking tour of Frontenac Park. I love my kayak and enjoy every minute I get out there! I am planning on a kayaking trip within the next month for a bunch of friends, so that should be exciting.

Work has been crazy! I have been thrown into a new role and it is crazy intense. Well, not really, but when it's new and you feel like you haven't been trained properly, it can be overwhelming, ESPECIALLY when you deal with thousands of dollars! Hello!

I've also went on another date with Josh and I think I may be falling for him. Ugh. I don't say the "ugh" for falling in love with someone, because love is amazing. I'm just hilarious and have the fear of falling out of love or being rejected at some point...Which is weird for me, because I always try to be positive...at least for others. But matters of the heart can be messy. I am trying to look at it with as much hope and light and possible, because each time we get together my smile always seems brighter.

P.S. He says I have a beautiful smile! haha

date night.

Josh and I went on an official date last night. I must say, it was the weirdest and nicest experience ever. I felt like a stereotypical girl on the date! Mainly because he left the table to go to the "washroom", but actually paid the bill! One of my classic moves! It was a really nice night and I have really enjoyed his company. We are getting together again on Monday! Here's hoping love is just around the corner.

Anyways, this weekend looks like it could be a good one! My friend Erica is coming out for some vacation from the real world. I plan on making her stay enjoyable, full of activities and food! Here's to a lovely weekend!

Be Well!!

can I get a reviews-day tuesday, with a side of wednesday?

The Dark Crystal (3.5/5)

Starring: Henson Muppet's!!
"On another planet in the distant past, a Gelfling embarks on a quest to find the missing shard of a magical crystal, and so restore order to his world."
When I was younger, this used to terrify me, but I always wanted to watch it because they were all of Henson's Muppet's. Well, I haven't watched it in over 15 years and it's even more terrifying! What a weird movie!

The Back-up Plan (?/5)
Starring: Jennifer Lopez & Alex O'Loughlin.
(However, the secondary characters are way better in it.)
Its a romantic comedy where J-Lo decides to go with her back-up plan of getting artificially inseminated, because she can't find the right man...until the day she gets knocked up.
Honestly, I can't decide on this movie. I went in deciding I wouldn't like it, and I tried not to like it, but I think there was a lot of funny parts. Please watch it and let me know.

Paul (5/5)
Starring: Simon Pegg & Nick Frost.
Two nerdy British geeks encounter an alien outside area 51 after leaving comic-con.
Honestly, I was slightly worried I was over stupid comedy, but this one brought me back! Don't know if I laughed this hard in a while. A lot of great secondary characters, especially Kristen Wiig and a couple of special cameo appearances that are fitting. If you like anything to do with aliens, you will enjoy all the  random connections to other movies as well.

Independence Day (4.5/5)
Starring: Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, & Will Smith.
Aliens decide to try to take over the world...
What they don't realize is, you can't bring an American down on the fourth of July.
I'm sure most people wouldn't say this is a great movie, but I enjoy it. I remember seeing this in theatres; underage might I add! The scene where Big Willy punches the alien and the scene with the scientist against the glass used to scare me. Now it's a fun tradition to watch this movie every Independence Day.
