another year older.

Yet another year of my life comes to an end and a new one begins!

On Tuesday, I turned the ripe young age of 26. I'm not one to enjoy birthdays, unless they are for others. I do not like being the center of attention, I don't like accepting gifts, and I'm way too emotional to have so many people care about me.

I can honestly say, this was the first birthday in a really like time that I enjoyed so much that at the end of the day, I was sad to see it come to an end.

There wasn't even anything too special about it, but it was completely fantastic.

The boyfriend, (yes, that's right, we're are officially boyfriend/boyfriend status) came over the night before, because he wanted to be there the morning of my birthday to be one of the first to wish me a special day and to give me amazing thoughtful gifts.

That day I cleaned my house and my yard, got a couple of errands done, had a special delivery, and cooked a lovely dinner for my famjamily. The family was slightly frustrated that I cooked and cleaned for my birthday, but quickly realized how happy it makes me feel, so they embraced it.

I had so many phone calls, texts, facebook messages, etc... I am slightly anal and wrote every single person a private message back thanking them for the thoughtful messages and checked in on their lives. So not only did I have a great birthday, I had a great time catching up with old friends.

Anyways, enough about that, here are some pictures from the day:

The boyfriend made me breakfast.

Flowers from the boy.

Beatles Print from the boy.

Special Delivery from Amazon. Love them! I pre-ordered this book and was thrilled to get it one I was home.

My cousin Jessica. Teaching her how to be country.

My cousin Matt. Teaching him tree-climbing techniques.

Anyways, thanks to everyone in my life who has made this past year happen. Here's to a great 26th year.

silly chipmunk.

My lovely friend Tracy gave me All Star strawberry plants last year! They are amazing and are constantly giving strawberries! HOWEVER, this year, someone has moved in around my steps....

My lovely little strawberry.

The chipmunks residence.

He comes out just when the berries are about ready to pick, and BAM! Takes them, eats them, and leaves the evidence right infront of my door! What a little sneak!
Any suggestions to keep the critters out of my plants?

summer cleaning.

Just over a week ago, I set up a meeting with my banking advisor to discuss my finances and debt. I was hoping to get all my loans/credits/debts/etc consolidated to one bill and to have a couple extra dollars for emergencies that come up around the house.

Today, I got the unfortunate news that this will not be happening.

My advisor kept reassuring me that I have "good debt" and my credit is "great", but unfortunately at this time they cannot offer me a loan or increase any of my limits. I need to focus on bringing my current debt down....I thought that's what I have been doing already??

I do not want to get a second job AGAIN, though I'm sure the paper route would gladly offer PAPER BOY back his heroic role, but my life is busy and to add another duty may be a little much.

So after having a little pity party, I've decided to follow the footsteps of my Mother when she was struggling with us kids. I'm going to go around my house, gather all the things that I don't need and sell them.

It's about time too! I haven't done a good spring cleaning in a long while. I kept saving things for "when I had a home and a place for it"...Well, I've owned the house over a year and if it doesn't have a spot and hasn't been used, it's time to go.

Here's to the good, that comes from the bad!

reviews-day tuesday.

The Change-Up (4/5)
Starring: Jason Bateman & Ryan Reynolds.
I haven't been to the theatre in a while and I have to say I'm getting larger or the seats are getting smaller! Sheesh! However, I can't let that effect my judgement on this movie. I'm a sucker for any movie that wants to be like 'Freaky Friday'. Take that classic film and then completely crude it up with two fantastic comedians and you have this movie! Well done boys!

Morning Glory (5/5)
Starring: Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, & Diane Keaton.
I didn't know too much about this movie, so I wasn't expecting much. Boy am I glad that I caught this flick. Its a story about a struggling producer trying to fix a shady morning talk show. I don't even know how to talk it up enough to get you to go see it, but watch it! You won't regret it.

Just Go With It (3/5)
Starring: Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston.
Sandler plays a plastic surgeon who is basically a womanizer. He asks his assistant (Aniston) to act like his soon to be divorced wife in order to cover up a lie he told his new girlfriend. It was a cute romantic comedy and there were a lot of aspects that I liked, but I think I'm over Adam Sandler...for now. I'm sure he will hook me back in eventually. Sandler and Aniston had great chemistry on set, making Sandler's mediocre acting work.

Hall Pass (4/5)
Starring: Owen Wilson & Jason Sudeikis.
Owen Wilson & Jason Sudeikis' characters are given the opportunity to have a week off of marriage, aka a Hall Pass. During the week, crazy shenanigans start to happen, especially by the last night of their week off. It definitely had me laughing multiple times and even had a couple of unexpected "Oh my" moments.

Paper Man (?/5)
Starring: Jeff Daniels, Lisa Kudrow, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, & Keiran Culkin.
Take the movie Drop Dead Fred and make it awkward...this could be that movie. I don't know how I feel about this movie. I will definitely watch it again. I think I really liked it, but there were a few parts I was put off on. Great cast and great acting. Please watch this and let me know what you think.

Megamind (4/5)
Starring: Will Ferrell & Tina Fey.
Megamind is an evil genius who eventually defeats the hero of Metro City. However, after some time he realizes life can be pretty boring without a hero to fight. This movie was pretty cute. I love superhero flicks and I liked how much it parodied Superman.

somber sunday.

Yesterday I went on an awesome kayaking adventure with six friends in the bay of Lake Ontario. We had a wonderful day trip and I had my first unintentional flip in my kayak. What an experience! We shared lots of laughs and plenty of sore muscles. Today, I am just taking it easy around the house, catching up on cleaning and movies. It's pretty dreary out there, so its easy to get lost in my bed multiple times today. In the meantime, here are some songs for you to take a listen to:

1. Karmin - Super Bass (Cover)
I love me some Karmin. I may try to contact them to see about getting them to do a song for the Christmas album.

laughter.

is awesome.

I am always laughing. Well, I guess not always. I know there are times to be serious, I get that, but more times then most, need to have humour or enjoyment in them.

Today has been a busy day at work and I was slightly sad when a couple of the staff came up to me and asked if everything was okay, because they didn't hear me laugh. They told me that even when they are having a shitty day, just hearing my boisterous Santa laugh brightens their day.

Here's to you co-workers and the rest of the world! I'll try to be a little less busy tomorrow and bring a couple more humourous antics to tomorrows conversations.

Plus, I promise to wear my smile the rest of the afternoon.

Take Care!
