reviews-day tuesday.

Slam (3/5)
Author: Nick Hornby.
I think every boy in Grade 9 should be forced to read this. If I was 15, I would have probably been mortified and taken some advice from this book. Who doesnt fear teenage pregnancy at that age? Unfortunately, Im not in Grade 9, nor did I get anyone pregnant at 15, so I couldn't really relate to the book. However, I still liked it because of the witty British humour and the "dysfunctional" family aspects. Definitely an easy and quick read. Hornby's other novels you might have heard about are About a Boy, High Fidelity, & Fever Pitch...which makes me think this will eventually be a movie as well.

The Mechanic (4.5/5)
"Follows an elite hit man as he teaches his trade to an apprentice who has a connection to one of his previous victims."
Full of action and some pretty intense fighting sccenes; one in particular that was hilariously intense. It's nothing new for Jason Statham to be in an action packed movie like this, but it's nice to see Ben Foster getting into more and more movies and genres.

Bell (1/5)
shit.

the “h” word.

I really dislike the word hate, and try to keep it out of my vocabulary, but I think I might be feeling that emotion towards Bell. I’m not one who needs to have the internet, however if I am paying for a service, I believe I should get what I am paying for…and currently I am not getting any service. Today is Day 13, and still no sign of internet. I wrote up a couple of entries and saved them as drafts to be able to update daily from my phone…but don’t hold your breath.

After this weekend of dealing with Bell, I have been looking and asking around for other internet service providers for my neck of the woods. So on that note, does anyone have any suggestions for the South Frontenac Township area?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wish me luck.

guess who's back? still not me.

Alright, BELL and I, potentially have a hate on for each other now. Meaning my internet was finally back for a couple hours Wednesday night, then out. Back again for a bit last night, then out. Ridiculous.
I feel bad that we havent chatted in a while, so I decided I would do a good update post from the last day I truly got to post.

Wednesday:
My beautiful friends Brian and Krista came over for a visit, along with Brantica. I gave Brian a tour of the house, since this was the first time he was seeing it; he enjoyed my home. I made some food for us, poured some wine, and started catching up with each other. One story lead to another, which lead to another, which meant bottle after bottle of wine. We ventured to the living room after dinner for more wine and karaoke styled singing. It was a perfect evening to rest and relax before the wedding on the weekend.

Thursday:
Not much to report about for Thursday. I got together with my “little” and we went on a little road trip in our neighbourhood to scope out various parks, trails, and swimming areas for this summer. I have yet to get out on the lake for a tour in my kayak and I found so many new spots I want to check out!

Friday:
Booked a holiday from work to have an extra long weekend and to get some chores done around the home. After hours of cleaning, I dolled myself up to pick up my friend Emma to go to a musical. It was a Western theme and I dressed to impress for it. It was put on by the kids from Extend-a-Family; “a community-based charitable organization providing support, respite, inclusive seasonal camps and recreational programs for individuals and families of all ages and mixed abilities”. The kids did a great job and I fell in love with a boy in a wheel chair who had the sweetest country accent. My friend Emma works with these kids and is going to see if that child needs a new friend and I might perform a little respite on the side for the family.

Saturday:
Rapture party! I mean Brian and Krista’s wedding. It was completely amazing! The wedding was beautiful, the people were beautiful, the speeches were beautiful, and the DJ was….Well, everything else was beautiful. One of my favourite parts of a wedding is meeting new people and I had the privilege of becoming friends with Brian and Kristas friends Maggie and Ben from BC. They were amazing and Maggie was my dance partner pretty much the whole night! Thanks pal! I am so happy and proud of Brian and Krista for making such a wonderful commitment to each other! Congrats and Best Wishes to BK!

Sunday:
Well, that was a day of rest. Luckily, I did not drink on Saturday so I wasn’t hung over, but my legs hurt so much from ALL the dancing that went down. Talk about a work out!

Monday:
Victoria day in Canada. I did more chores around the home, like yard work and laundry.

Tuesday:
Back to work and my "last" day of arguing with Bell.

Wednesday:
Semi-excited to have the internet again, but only partially.

Thursday:
Had an awesome night! Went downtown Kingston for a couple of hours and had some "me" time. Took a walk, did some window shopping, read my book in the park and picked up my friend Erica to see my friend Jemima's show. Her pieces are beautiful and I wish I had taken some pictures for people to have seen them! Maybe in the near future! Erica came back to my house for a delicious barbecue and visits.YET, still no internet.

Friday:
Today...I will attempt to deal with BELL again....Here's hoping I have internet this weekend.

I hope everyone has been well for the past week and I am looking forward to getting to post again, soon I hope! Take care of yourselves and see you when I can!

Be Well.

day eight.

Alright, it's officially been over a week and I still have no internet at home. I am just writing a quick update from my computer at work to say 'Hi'. Apparently, I should be up and running by the time I get home this evening...Fingers crossed!! I have plenty of things to catch up on! Miss you all!

Be Well.

for reals.

Blog family....Oh, how I've missed you. And will continue to miss you for a little while longer.

How to do you like your service provider? Because, currently...I do not like mine at all. My internet has been down and out since Tuesday...yeah, that's ridiculous. They finally sent a technician out to my neck of the woods today. They said they would come between 8:00-12:00. They did not show up until 3:00....Ridiculous. If that wasnt bad enough, I sitll have NO service...How upsetting. I expect some awesome credits on my account.

I am over at a friends place for dinner and a show right now and told her I needed to say hi to all my blog buddies. Hopefully I will be up and running at some point this weekend. Tomorrow, my friends Krista and Brian will be getting married and I am so excited! They are a beautiful couple and I wish them all the best! Hopefully I will have some pictures and a couple of stories to share with you about that wedding too.

Anyways, dinner is just about ready, so I apologize that we haven't communicated in a while. I wish you all an amazing long weekend (If you get one).

Be well.

reviews-day tuesday.

It breaks my heart a little to see the show come to an end. I have been a faithful viewer of the series since it started way back in 2001; which means I would have been about 16 at the time it first began. For those of you who do not know the show, it is the story of Superman: the younger years. The creators did their own adaptation for the TV series and stayed fairly true to the comics. This is one series that I am happy to own! Plus, I cannot wait to have kids and force them to watch it with me! So long Smallville, it's been Super!

Brothers & Sisters (5/5)

Starring: Sally Field, Callista Flockhart, Dave Annable, Rachel Griffths, Ron Rifkin, Matthew Rhys, and Balthazar Getty.
Okay...talk about hearts breaking. I didn't even know the series was cancelled. I have had the season finale recorded to watch when I had a free minute. At the end, it seemed to wrap up a lot...too smoothly. So I immediately fretted that it was actually the series finale. After much research, it looks to be true.
I love this show because I love my family. I can relate to all the crazy antics of the show, even the random extended family. If you have a large family you will completely enjoy this series. Here's to a great show!

Now for some AWESOME news.

Hiccups (5/5)
The show is based on Millie Upton (Nancy Robertson), a children's author, who is an "over-reactor" and needs help. She hires Stan Dirko (Brent Butt) as her "life coach". The two get into crazy shenanigans together along with their fellow cast mates. I honestly thought the show was cancelled, but am thrilled and pleased to announce that the second season premieres May 30th on CTV at 8:00pm EST.

milton mayhem.

Congratulations again to Mr. and Mrs. Davison.
This weekend was awesome. I love road trips, I love weddings, but I love being home more. The event officially commenced Saturday morning once I finished picking up Fretts and Millie. It's funny, we were only staying 1 night and we had this much packed. Mind you, I am what seems to be like a worriesome parent and packed everything and anything. Seriously. I packed a griddle.

This was our hotel room that we completely destroyed in under two minutes. We were so grateful because check-in was at 3:00, the wedding was at 3:00, but we arrived at 12:30ish. They had the room ready for us in 10 minutes.
Thank you Best Western!

Once we were all beautified and maxified we called a cab to get to our destination, the Glencairn Golf Course in Milton, Ontario. It's funny that the cab driver didn't know where it was, so we all pulled out our cell phones to GPS our location.

This was the gorgeous ceiling.

We were seated and awaited the ceremony. This was my first Indian wedding and I enjoyed every minute of it. The ceremony, service, and outfits were all fantastic.

Cocktails started right after the wedding and my favourite part...open bar! Hello! My kind of wedding. The appetizers that were out and about were so tasty as well. After an hour of cocktails, it was time to head to the Aberdeen Room for dinner.

I can't begin to tell you how amazing the food was. Honestly, the first time I have ever been to a wedding where I was full. Best food ever, hands down! Also, the way it was served was great. They served unlimited platters to your table to share amongst your group. This really forces you to get to know your  neighbours. Excellent ice breaker. Way to go Table 12.

After dinner, the Bride ventured our way to have a little visit. She looked absolutely gorgeous! It's funny that Millie and I got a picture with Purvi, but I don't think we got one photo with Steve.

So on everyone's table, there were these sticks...that honestly looked like oversized Indian chopsticks...talk about an awkward start. Luckily, we learned quickly what they were for; a dance. Which by the way, was awesome! It got everyone involved and was so unique. I liked them so much. In fact, I was pretending to be a member of the the Ninja Turtles half the night.

After hours of what seemed like Millie and I choreographing dance numbers, it was time to sit out. The whole wedding was amazing, except for the DJ. Saying that though, I know he probably pleased 90% of the crowd. I like a lot of older and classics songs. He played a lot of new things and only about three quarters of the song before changing it to the next. So just when you were getting into it...switch! Also, there is a song that I request at almost every wedding to perform, the Cha Cha Slide...and he did not play it...
It was probably on the Bride and Groom's do not play list! haha

At the end of the night, I had collected leftover sticks!
I figured I could come up with some use for them! I couldnt let them go to waste!

Here's a close up of the sticks:

After a midnight chip run, it was time for bed. These lovely ladies shared a bed so they could keep each other warm while I slept by the open window. The poor girls had to put up with my snoring most of the night. I think Fretts' finger pretty much summed up how she felt towards me by the morning.

We all slept in, but were ready in 5 minutes. We hit up the hotels diner (Troys), and headed out on our venture home. The ride back was quiet and tiresome, but we all had a blast. Can't wait for the next wedding! Oh wait, thats in 5 days!
Here's to summer loving.

all my bags are packed.

And I'm about ready to go.

I've been up for a while now getting last minute items packed and good to go for my road trip. A couple friends and I are going up to a friend's wedding in Milton today!

Congratulations to Stephen and Purvi!

I am very excited! It's already starting off perfectly...rainy weather! Apparently it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day! Plus, I hope that means less people will be on the roads today.

Depending on what the bar situation is like tonight (open or cash), will determine whether or not I will be posting tomorrow. Ha! I don't know what time I will be home, but when I do, I will try to upload some pictures for Monday's blog.

Anyways, I must finish loading up the car and head out! Have an awesome weekend everyone!

Be Well!

Apparently, blogger was down yesterday, so I didn't get to post yesterday.
I wanted to tell everyone to buy The Lonely Island's new album:
Turtleneck & Chain!
I love these guys!

art show.

I have been working various positions in the government for what will be eight years come this October. That's like re-living my elementary school days! Maybe I should have a graduation/celebration in honour of my eight-years? Regardless, for seven of those years there has been an annual art show. Each year I see the posters, emails, and other notifications about it and each year I think how I should partake. Unfortunately, I never act upon the thought. However, for the first year, I have decided I am going to do this...or at least try.

This years theme is "Nature & Travel". I've already come up with a couple different concepts and am so excited! I haven't felt this inspired to art it up in quite some time and it feels good. I have to thank the blog a little! Since writing more, my creative juices have been flowing. I love it! I've already been working on songs for my upcoming Christmas album, which sounds funny. You'd think I was a talented musician or something! Not at all! I will have more about the Christmas album when we get closer to the holiday.

Anyways, back to art. I need to submit a photo and a write up about the piece by the end of June. If the judges like it, I could have the privilege of being in the show; which will be a week between July and August in Toronto. If I am lucky enough to have the honour of being in the show, I may have to come up with some extra cash to go on a little visit to see the show in action.

For those of you that read this, if you wouldn't mind helping me stay motivated from time to time, I would really appreciate it! I am going to start gathering supplies next week! Once things start moving along, I will do a follow up entry.

Be Well!

reviews-day tuesday...

...got the shaft!

Since I have been in my new position and with the weather finally getting gorgeous, I have not had any free time to watch movies....I know, it's tragic! I finally have some free time and am going to watch something tonight, but what?

So to change it up, I will ask you:

Have any good movie suggestions for me to watch tonight/this week?

what's in a name: part two.

After yesterday's post, I was talking to someone about names...which randomly took us to the topic of pet names. No, not pet names for your actual pets, but that special name you might give your penis, vagina, and/or breasticles...That's right, I call them breasticles.

Unfortunately, I have never given my little member a name, nor has anyone else. I am going to ponder some names and possibly give the little guy something to go by this weekend. I'm kind of digging "litte guy" or maybe something like "little slugger", but that may get awkward when and if I ever have a son and start calling him that as well. Haha

Do any of your members have a pet name?

what's in a name?

You'd think I was going to tell you a story regarding the origin of the name Jason or something, when really I just have an amusing story about my name. My name is Jason, though my father liked the idea of Bono. My middle names are James and Peter. I was named after my father and my mother's father; Gordon and Robert...Confused? Let me try to explain.

My grandfathers name was Robert James and my fathers name is Gordon Peter, but apparently neither of them liked their given names and decided to go by their middles.

Which in turn means, I'm my own grandpa.

I kid, I kid.

As a young boy, one tends to mimic their male role models. I figured Jason would not suffice. I should be called James Peter. The kids I knew, didn't have two first names though, unless it ended in Joe, Rae, Anne, etc...so that couldn't work, unless I were to shorten it to JP. After explaining this to my friends, they said it was confusing, not for any of the above reasons, but because my last name started with a T. So I changed it again...JT it would be.

After all was said and done, I decided that what made the most sense was to stick with Jason. I like my name. Just because my father and grandfather weren't happy with theirs, doesn't mean I have to dislike mine. Besides, my mother's name is Sharon Jean and she was quite content with Sharon.

Do you like your name?

Don't Hate. Educate.

When it comes to politics, it can get pretty intense...So you won't hear me go on about who should vote for who based on this or that. We've recently had an election in Canada, so my topic of rant is regarding how much hate there is when talking about voting.

For reals.

I'm about to write something that could cause readers to do one of two things:
a) not care
b) have a hate on

Ready?...I have never voted.

Silence.

The joy of admitting that over a blog....Yes!

Here's the deal! It's not that I don't believe in voting, it's that I am not educated enough. I know people say, "vote anyways!", but they may feel differently if I voted against the party they stood for.

I want to be able to defend my choice, not that my choice needs to be defended. Everyone votes or should vote for who will represent them the best. I know that it is my right to vote, but it's also my right to move to and take up residence in any province. I wouldn't just up and move tomorrow without thinking about where I was going to move to or how I would gain my livelihood.

At first I blamed the schools for not teaching the basics of voting and what the parties represent. I also blamed my parents for not taking a more political stand. The thing is, you have to stop blaming so many people. It truly boils down to YOUR responsibility to learn. However, it doesn't mean that I don't think it should be openly discussed more.

I also think that the age limit should be lowered to 16. If kids are responsible enough to drive, I think they can vote. Plus, you will always have people who don't vote. Whether they be 16 or 61. The thing is, I know 16 year olds who know more about and have stronger feelings about politics than I do. Plus, one of the topics usually up for discussion is regarding education, so shouldn't kids get a say in their future? But I digress...

This was the first year that I finally started to learn about politics and voting. I learned what the parties stood for and am finally starting to understand some of this political jargon. Hopefully by the next election I can do my part.

In saying all this, I want to remind people: Don't Hate. Educate. If there is someone you know who isn't voting, instead of giving them a hard time, talk to them about it. More then likely they are uneducated in the world of voting. Try to remain unbiased regarding the parties, tell them the steps for voting in their community, and just listen to their questions. And if they choose not to vote, remember that we are also lucky to have the freedom of choice as well. Do your part by helping out your fellow man or woman.

Be Well.

reviews-day tuesday.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (4.5/5)
Starring: Frances McDormand & Amy Adams.
"Guinevere Pettigrew, a middle-aged London governess, finds herself unfairly dismissed from her job. An attempt to gain new employment catapults her into the glamorous world and dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse."
This movie was completely adorable and entertaining. Anything Frances McDormand is in, can't be bad!

An American Tail (5/5)
Starring: Christopher Plummer, Madeline Kahn, & Dom  Deluise.
"While emigrating to the United States, a young Russian mouse gets seperated from his family and must relocate them while trying to survive in a new country."
I completely forgot about this movie. Can I just say how heart wrenching it is! I felt like I was watching a live action film, rather than a cartoon about mice! Oh my! So good.

Women in Trouble (?/5)
Starring: A lot.
"A serpentine day in the life of ten seemingly disparate women: a porn star, a flight attendant, a psychiatrist, a masseuse, a bartender, a pair of call girls, etc. All of them with one crucial thing in common. Trouble."
Alright, so this movie was actually really bad and really good. It's like they wanted to make a good movie, but then decided they weren't going to make that much effort. If you decide to watch this, make sure you wait for after the credits!

Fallen (5/5)
Starring: Denzel Washington.
"Homicide detective John Hobbes witnesses the execution of serial killer Edgar Reese. Soon after the execution the killings start again, and they are very similar to Reese's style."
This movie used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid. To this day when I hear "Time is on My Side" by The Stones I get the heebee-jeebees. Watch this movie if you want to see an excellent film!
